Alley Poyner Macchietto was selected to develop a Master Plan for this vintage museum before designing the addition of a new IMAX Theater. After an analysis and recommendations were given, the plans for a 230-seat IMAX Theater were developed, which also included a gift shop, projection room, snack bar, reception area, and ticket desk. The IMAX Theater required a design parallel to the advanced technology of the IMAX experience. The systems, seating and sight lines of the IMAX Theater were developed beyond the limits of a conventional theater. The project also included archival space, offices, a sculpture and fountain at the new entrance, and accessibility modifications to the museum. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
