kearney performing arts center Alley Poyner Macchietto's study of the Central Elementary School Auditorium and the feasibility of converting it into the Kearney Performing Arts Center began with a series of informational meetings with the Kearney community. The overwhelming response to the project has been positive, and the final scheme involved a 29,970 s.f. renovation and conversion of existing space as well as construction of a 25,864 s.f. addition to accommodate school functions displaced by the Performing Arts Center. Completed in 2006, the Center includes a 929-seat theater, stage, back stage space, a new lobby and reception space, new gymnasium, school kitchen and food service, and new parking.
