In response to a shortage of housing and a desire to retain Mid-Plains Community College students in student housing for longer periods, Alley Poyner Macchietto proposed new student housing suites. The decision was made to proceed with a series of 48 student 'blocks', each 'block' consisting of twelve suites. Each suite featured 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, living room, and kitchen and dining room. These blocks' allows for exterior gathering areas and ease of expansion in the future. A community building, consisting of a manager's apartment and office, and a kitchenette and laundry room for students, was also added. The use of brick and metal siding was consistent with existing buildings and future design guidelines. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
