The Vavra's Dry Goods and Bradley's Academy buildings, locally known as the 1892 building, were the first buildings rehabilitated in the West Broadway Historic District. The buildings were originally separate and over the years were combined to create a bar and restaurant. Built in 1897, Bradley's Academy is the older of the two, and was originally a grocery store and cobbler's store on the first floor, while the second floor was devoted to the Hall. Vavra's Dry Goods began as a dry good store and was home to a variety of drug stores and grocery stores. The new 13,308 s.f. plan called for developing the buildings together, creating four new downtown living units above and rehabilitating the first floor for new commercial tenants. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
