mayfair apartments Built in 1894 as a boot and shoe factory, this building served as a factory and warehouse space for several firms, including the Mayfair Textile Company. In 2002, it was converted into 12 luxury apartments, ground floor commercial space, basement parking, and a new handicapped accessible public entrance. Each apartment highlights the historical materials of the building - exposing the heavy timber structural system and brick exterior walls - and units feature cherry wood flooring, whirlpool tubs and gas fireplaces. New windows give the facade a fresh look and the roof deck allows views to the rest of the old market historic district. The 33,629 s.f. building is listed on the National Register of Historic places.
