The Hope Center
open door mission omaha Celebrating their 50th year in 2003, the Open Door Mission provides shelter and services for the homeless and poor. Open Door Mission selected Alley Poyner Macchietto to prepare a 6-phase, 20-year Master Plan. Construction for Phase 1 of a day room/lounge will begin in 2008. Phase 2 involves a new 50,000 s.f. building to provide rooms for 50 families in the long-term program and 75 families in emergency programs. The existing shelter will be remodeled for men only. A new Family Ministries Outreach Center, featuring a large gym, classrooms, and clinic space, will be constructed in Phase 3. In Phases 4-6, 30 transitional housing units, a Distribution Center, and a Vocational Training Center will be added.
