Read MoreStirnella, a refined gastro pub, “…serves approachable food inspired by local and seasonal ingredients.” The design team renovated a former Firestone Tire Showroom and Machine Garage in a historic district. Finished concrete floors and exposed brick pair with wooden tables made from railcars of the old Omaha streetcar, providing a nod to history. Lighting demarcates various areas, and finishes (including green subway tile, quilted leather barstools, etc.) illustrate modern interpretations of classic elements.
Paintings of native animals by a local artist adorn the walls, while antique pieces (unearthed from the lead designer’s basement) help identify the hostess station and add character. Unique to the design was an all-season dining patio that also serves as a code-required vestibule. In nice weather garage doors open to the vibrant and bustling neighborhood outside.
