UNL University Health Center and UNMC College of Nursing

Healthcare's Next Generation

APMA and HGA partnered on the design of this new, state-of-the-art facility that is home to the Lincoln Division of the UNMC College of Nursing as well as the UNL University Health Center. Looking for synergies and seeking to create a community around well-being, the APMA + HGA design team worked hard to build consensus early in the process among stakeholders with unique program needs.

“At the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, students can expect the highest quality of patient care. This facility is a significant step towards creating and supporting a campus environment that promotes and strengthens students’ health and well-being.”

— Laurie Bellows
UNL interim vice chancellor of student affairs

50,000 SF are dedicated to the College of Nursing and includes a simulation center, skills labs, active learning classrooms and education support space along with administrative space to accommodate current and new faculty and staff, and space essential for research programs.

The University Health Center’s 56,000 SF is designed to provide high quality patient care in larger, more efficient spaces, while supporting the program’s mission to provide easy access to healthcare for UNL students.  The building’s elegant solution finds an identity for each group to thrive in its mission, while creating a new green space that benefits not only the occupants, but also the greater campus.
